What foods should you avoid during pregnancy?

During pregnancy, it is good to eat a balanced diet so that you can face motherhood calmly. But what is a balanced diet and which foods are better to avoid during pregnancy? It seems like a trivial question, but a healthy diet during pregnancy is neither easy nor self-evident.

A healthy diet includes:

– Proteins (meat, poultry, fish, pulses),

– Carbohydrates (cereals, bread, pasta, rice),

– Fats, preferably from vegetable sources,

– low-fat dairy products,

– Fruit,

– Vegetables

These types of foods are recommended during pregnancy, but some of them can cause problems.

So what foods should be avoided during pregnancy?

– Raw fish, especially shellfish,

– Dishes prepared with raw or undercooked eggs,

– Unpasteurised fruit juices,

– Raw sprouts, especially alfalfa sprouts,

– unpasteurised soft cheeses such as Brie, Feta, Camembert, Roquefort, Gorgonzola, fresh Tomino and Tomino,

– Unpasteurised milk and milk products,

– Liver (due to the high vitamin A content),

– Food supplements, herbal teas and teas from plant extracts (traditional tea is allowed, preferably decaffeinated),

– Large fish that may contain excessive amounts of mercury, such as shark, swordfish and mackerel,

– Raw or undercooked fish, meat and hot dogs,

– Pâtés and sauces made from smoked meat or fish sold in delicatessens or at supermarket checkouts. The packaged versions of these products, on the other hand, are safe.
